Fish Marketing Organization: Design Inspiration
belivin'98 is located in a building that was once a water passage through canals,
and across the street is the Fish Marketing Organization,
an important fishing port of Bangkok.
The "Fish Marketing Organization"
has been a wholesale seafood market for 72 years,
with auctions for imported fish such as salmon and tuna,
similar to the Tsukiji market, where many famous chefs
come to make their selections. From the past until now,
you can still occasionally see fish auctions taking place after midnight.
Most fresh markets across Bangkok source their products from here,
and the Fish Marketing Organization has also opened fishing ports
throughout the country to serve as important seafood sources
that contribute significantly to Thailand's economy.
We therefore incorporated the atmosphere of Bangkok's important fishing port
into the design of belivin'98 to preserve the valuable memories of
the historical fishing port, which still retains the charm of its stories and history, creating a warm accommodation where guests can absorb various historical moments, such as when Prince Akihito personally visited in 1964
to witness the abundance of various fish species, and images of fish auctions
from over 70 years ago, which are scenes that can no longer be found in this era.

Emperor Akihito,
when he was a Crown Prince,
visited the Fish Marketing Organization twice. on December 16, 1964, and June 12, 1971."
